Meet Rob

Rob has been on the rough sleepers pathway since 2021 and has a history of drug abuse. Rob was keen to secure himself another job and make better use of his time. Browns helped Rob secure employment in the past, and we were here to help him again.

The issues they were facing:

At 48 years old Rob has been engaged with Browns since 2021. Despite being housed by the rough sleeper’s pathway, Rob still finds it difficult to make positive use of his time and is anxious about how much idle time he has. He regularly mentions that he is looking to make better use of his time and secure him self a job.

He has worked in the past, however, unfortunately that contract came to an end due to personal issues that interfered with his job role. This discouraged Rob as he thought he would not be given a second chance to attend the Browns 4E’s to employment workshop. Reminding Rob that we are here to support him and not penalise him, he was again linked in with the 4E’s workshop to ensure that he supported into finding new opportunities.

Browns were able to support Rob with:
  • Applying for a DVLA license replacement, which is needed to secure employment.
  • Rob plans on finding himself work again
  • Rob is looking for better use of his time
  • Rob is happy to explore voluntary work opportunities during the interim.
Browns were there to support Rob with:
  • Regular key worker meetings
  • Applying for DVLA License replacement, including obstacles such as missing paperwork and wrong address
  • Household Support Fund Application
  • Rob has been exploring voluntary options as he waits for his DVLA application to be addressed.
  • Rob has been working with employment coach to plan for work options so that he is prepared beforehand.
  • Rob attended a community event with the Browns team to help us raise awareness about ongoing issues that affect society.
Rob is taking steps to address idle time

Once Rob has received his ID, he will be ready to look for work with the 4E’s to employment workshop. In the meantime he is exploring voluntary work, and has also been making voluntary payments to his housing provider to address his debt to get himself in a much better financial situation. Rob is continuing to engage with his support worker on a weekly basis and will continue to meet with an employment coach for 1-1 sessions. Rob has been working well with external agencies and professionals such as Cranstoun and GP, and has grown confidence in addressing his misuse of time.

“I want to start working again to better use my time.”
