Meet Peter

Working with Browns, Peter was able to transform his life,  gain control of his finances and integrate back into society after going through a rough patch.

Peter is a 63-year-old man, living in Windsor, he has been working with Browns since 2022. He was referred to Browns by his probation worker as they believed that he required intensive support that they could not provide. After the loss of his wife Peter experienced a rough patch and could not find a way to move forward.
The issues they were facing:

Peter felt his life was spiralling out of control; he was out of work, drinking more and felt isolated. Peter felt this the most when he was arrested. He was in an endless cycle and that he had no way out. He also found that his daughter was financially exploiting him. Peter was unwilling and did not know how to make a change until he was offered support by Browns.

Peter was placed into the Intensive Support Service and received:
  • Help to identify where the issues were and the ways to address them.
  • Advice how to take control of his finances by creating and reinforcing boundaries in his personal relationships and to address his health concerns.
  • Along with the support of his counsellor, Browns helped Peter with boosting his confidence and to explore and reinforce boundaries with his daughter to avoid falling deeper into financial turmoil.
  • Browns supported Peter to access benefits that he was unaware he was entitled to.
  • He was also introduced to groups to help him with integrating back into the community.
Peter now feels at peace

Peter now feels more financially stable, he is making affordable re-payments towards any debt he had accrued. His physical health has drastically improved. Browns have been supporting him to attend appointments, something that he had previously been avoiding. Peter now understands the importance of introducing and maintaining boundaries in his personal life. This has had a great impact on his self confidence and overall mental health.

Peter feels at peace, knowing that his life feels under control and that he can contact Browns for support when he needs to.

“I wouldn’t have got this far without your support”.
“One of the most important things for me, is the knowledge that I have got that support”.
“As a service you have got to be up there with the best”.
