Meet Rachel
With the support of Browns, Rachel was able to secure safe housing after a history of sexual abuse and harassment….
Daisy was at the start of her new tenancy and wanted to tackle her outstanding debts to prevent them having a greater impact on her current household. She was getting increasingly worried with creditors calling her and scared of bailiffs knocking on her door. It was a challenge for Daisy to begin the process as she did not understand her options, the online process or where to begin and she often became overwhelmed, anxious and confused. Daisy’s probation worker was unable to provide this support so needed to refer Daisy to a service that could offer intensive, regular support to help her manage the situation. So she was referred to Browns.
Daisy was enabled to understand the application process and therefore felt less anxious about the process. In fact, she felt like she was finally in control and could breathe again. The unmanageable debt was removed, meaning she was no longer feeling harassed by creditors. The fresh start motivated her to revisit budgeting skills with her support worker and she felt empowered to manage her bills and stay on top of her financial commitments.
